Murals

Community and Group Murals

Process:

  1. Identify a community group, school students, etc. who may want or benefit from engaging in a mural project or
  2. Identify a wall or message that is in need of decorating/promoting

Once identified, group/s are established, meet & brainstorm mural possibilities, concepts & process. All members of the group are involved in the designing & painting of the mural. Most murals are painted onto sign boards & mounted on the wall. In this way they can be moved if necessary.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Beautify a dull wall/space
  • Option: education using art as the tool, e.g. If theme is to promote Mental Health or Youth Week, we will brainstorm the current years slogan, e.g. “Link up for Life; it’s all about relationships”, discuss what it means, how we can achieve the slogans message personally & as a community, support systems, etc.
  • Design & painting skills
  • Fun
  • Laughter
  • Meeting new people & working together as a group to achieve a shared outcome
  • Showcase individuals & group creativity & contribution to their community

Materials/tools I will provide:

  • ALL including a selection of objects for participants to use & visual resources for ideas.

Special Requirements:

  • Spacious, good lighting & ventilation, easy to clean floor, e.g. lino, tiles,
  • sink to wash palette’s & brushes,
  • 5+ large tables, 9+ chairs,
  • hosepipe & suitable wash area for screen printing
